St Just in Roseland is just a couple of miles away from St Mawes by road or 2.5 miles to walk.
You’ll pass through it on your way to and from St Mawes on the main road and it’s worth a stop to take in one of the UK’s most beautiful churches, St Just in Roseland Church, dating from the 13th Century and set above the tidal creek of St Just Pool. It has a beautifully kept churchyard and garden, luxuriantly planted with sub-tropical species, and the recently opened Intepretive Centre. It was described by Sir John Betjeman as ‘
to many people the most beautiful churchyard on earth’.
It’s the perfect place to head for a walk from St Mawes, and it's definitely worth taking the time to stop off at Renwick's Cafe in the Church grounds for breakfast, light lunches, teas and delicious cakes.
