Car Free Travel

Why not leave the car behind, if only for a day? There are other ways of getting around the area, giving you time to enjoy the scenery whilst causing less damage to the environment. You can plan some wonderful combinations of walks, boat trips and public transport.

Ferries and River Trips

The St Mawes Ferry provides a regular pedestrian ferry link from St Mawes to Falmouth year round.

Enterprise Boats run scenic boat trips to Trelissick Garden, Smuggler’s Cottage, Malpas and Truro from May to September.

Place Ferry is a small seasonal passenger ferry which offers a regular service throughout the day between St Mawes and Place from Good Friday to 3rd October. It allows visitors to explore the beautiful St Anthony Head and enjoy circular walks in the area.

The Fal River Links website has information and timetables for travelling by ferry, bus and rail. There is also a list of itineraries which incorporate some of Cornwall’s most prominent visitor attractions such as the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Trelissick Gardens, and St. Mawes Castle. It also gives you a list of activities, on which you can plan your own day out including walk, fishing trips, cruises and so on.
