The British C Class Catamaran Team INVICTUS will host all comers in 2013 for the Little America's Cup. First sailed in Britain in the 1960s, the Cup has not been won here for over 40 years. In Rhode Island USA, the 2010 event was won by the Canadian team; Invictus were 3rd out of 7.
In 2013 we expect 16-20 of these boats - 25 feet long, 14 feet wide, with a crew of two and a 42 feet high solid "wingsail", they are capable of 25 knots. This many have never been seen together before; they will come from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Sweden and Britain.
Racing will be in the Carrick Roads and in Falmouth Bay, depending on wind and sea conditions. They can be watched from the Trefusis peninsula from Pendennis headland and from the water. Racing will take place from approx 11am to 4pm each day.
The British team can be seen training and practicing in the area.
