Cornwall Pride

An annual chance for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Cornwall, their friends and families to get together and celebrate diversity. Cornwall Pride began in its current format in 2008 after a group of LGBT people decided to run a public open event for all to enjoy. It soon became clear that there was tremendous support for the organising committee. Since then Cornwall Pride has been become a hugely successful annual event in Truro.

In a celebration of Cornwall and diversity, the day starts with a parade through the streets of Truro with floats and hundreds of people taking part. Always a spectacular sight is one of the UK's longest rainbow flags as it flows through the streets with music getting everyone dancing. The parade walks to Victoria Gardens where everyone can enjoy entertainment from the bandstand, there are stalls and food and fun to be had by all through to 6pm. The day rounds off with the Pride Party, an evening ticketed event for over 18's which takes place in a huge marquee on the Piazza at Lemon Quay.

The message is “Don’t just sit there”. This is an opportunity for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community, their families and friends to come together in an atmosphere of inclusion, friendship and support. The parade is a fun extravaganza which is more fun to take part in than just watch and the relaxed atmosphere at the garden picnic truly does provide the ideal location for people to meet friends old and new. The Pride Party is the perfect ending to a perfect day when you’re invited to come along, bring your friends, meet new ones, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the music.
